Totsbots Easyfit versions (v3, v4 and star) - what's the difference?

Although we discovered cloth nappies on our own, we weren't really aware of the extraordinary variety and volume of choice until a fantastic lady (who now runs a Nappy Library) came to our house to show us her stash. This was when I made the decision to try out as many as I could.

The easyfit was one of the nappies that we looked at during that session, and I distinctly remember her saying "The star is great, but some of the earlier versions are rubbish, so be careful". Although I remembered this advice, when I was feverishly buying second hand nappies on facebook, I just dived straight in! As a result, we have example of the version 3 (v3), version 4 (v4) and the star. And figuring out what I have bought wasn't easy...

So I'm just going to run through what I think the key differences are, between the v3, v4 and star. Please correct me if I am wrong - I have only figured this out with excessive googling and playing with our 3 varieties.

V3
Brightly coloured insert, made of minkee (100%polyester)
Unsure about prints - I've only seen block colours.
Storytime prints
Brit Bots prints
(We've found this to need boosting in order to last even a couple of hours as the absorbency is low).

V4
Plain insert, made of bamboo/cotton.
Poppered booster attaches to the end of the insert.
Rhymetime prints
Frugi prints
(Our second hand examples of the V4 are very well used, which shows how good they are at their job!)

Star
Plain insert, made of bamboo.
Waterproof panel that goes against the skin at the front (in previous versions it was fleece).
Storytime prints
Joules prints
Playtime prints
Elements prints

(We don't have one, but I think a key difference of the V2 is the PUL (waterproof) layer. It is much thicker and less stretchy/flexible. I would be interested to get my hands on one to check it out!)

Here are the insides of each:
v3 - lovely, colourful minky

v4 - poppered booster at the end of the insert

star - waterproof panel at the front
So there you go, that is (I think) a simple summary of the differences between the Easyfits. I *think* that I prefer the v4, as I like having a booster that won't move around too much, but I like the star too. We've struggled a lot with the v3 as it just isn't absorbent enough on its own, although it is the least bulky, so adding a booster isn't a problem!

I'll be reviewing the Star on Tuesday, so keep your eyes peeled if you want to know more!
