Itti Bitti D'Lish Snap in One - Medium
I bought these online without checking the size. When they arrived I panicked - they look TEEENY! Had I bought a newborn nappy by mistake?! But no, this is simply my first try at a sized nappy! This is the medium, which should fit 6-12kg. At 7kg, Flower is at the bottom end of this range, but you wouldn't believe it if you tried putting it on her...
Itti Bitti is an Aussie brand and have a range of colours and prints, in both all in one and snap in one designs. It seems very easy to personalise the snap in one nappies as you can buy the shell then the snap in boosters and inserts that suit you (microfibre if you want fast drying or bamboo if you want greater absorbency). They also have sized or birth to potty options - wow! What a range!!
This is a snap-in-one, with bamboo boosters. The label on mine is a little different to the current ones on the Itti Bitti website, so I assume this is an older version? I bought it second hand. Brand new, these go for around £14.
I can't figure out what the red poppers on the stay dry flap are for. It has yellow poppers to attach to the nappy shell (sorry, I forgot to take a picture!), but I'm not sure about the red. I guess there must be even more booster options that I could choose from!!
The folded soaker is a simple but effective way to speed up drying time. I find these reasonably fast to dry, but generally I snap out the absorbent parts and tumble dry them. I have no worries about putting them back together thanks to the colour coded poppers, which seem unnecessary, but are a brilliant time saver in a busy Mum's life!
The outside of the nappy is fuzzy and soft, which is lovely. I find it grips slightly to clothes and stops them from falling down, which is an unexpected bonus.
The elastics are firm, but I haven't had a problem as it fits reasonably well around the legs, so it isn't too tight. I may feel differently about this as she gets bigger, but for now I'm happy with the elastic.
Issues:
The main issue I've found is the width of the crotch! It feels so incredibly narrow that I find it weird to put on! It is faaaaar too narrow for my liners, so I think that if I were to use this more I would buy/make special liners. That isn't really a criticism of the nappy, simply that I am more used to birth to potty nappies, which have the width required for a toddler. As a sized nappy, that simply isn't necessary here, so it can be slimmer and better fitting. So despite her only being at the bottom of the size range, this fits Flower pretty nicely. Possibly feeling a bit small!
Overall
Pros:
Removable inserts makes drying much quicker
Colour coded poppers makes putting together easier
Pretty colours
Inserts fit really nicely into the nappy - no sticking out!
Cons:
As mentioned before, I am not a fan of popper fastenings. I just don't get on with them.
She would need to go up to the next size at 12kg - according to my chart that's likely to be around 2 years? I know that she is a small baby, but I simply cannot imagine her still fitting this nappy at that point! But we'll see - I'll review in 18 months and update.
I like this nappy, but I'm not sure it is for me, and I can't put my finger on why! Perhaps it is simply that I'm used to the birth to potty bulkiness and just can't get my head round the size of this. I do recommend it for the personalisation/adaptability alone - the ability to use the same nappy but select microfibre or bamboo inserts is really useful. It is also slim fitting and nice looking, soft and squishy, reasonably quick drying, easy to use... all the good things. It just isn't for me. Sorry.

I couldn't resist this colour - it is one of my favourites! |
A single row of poppers to fasten the nappy, with poppers on the flaps to allow for overlapping. The single row gives less flexibility, but as this is a sized nappy, you shouldn't need as much.
This shows the inserts all folded up.
And here you can see that the one on top (with the stay dry fleece layer) has been flapped out of the way, revealing the folded soaker underneath.
And here you can see the soaker unfolded and unpopped. The poppers are colour coded to make it easy to figure out where it goes.
