Alva Baby - AO (All In One)

I was hunting for a cheap pocket nappy for comparison with the Little Lamb and this popped up on eBay for just £6.95. Deal.

The eBay dealer is actually Fill Your Pants, who have made me feel happy enough that I've made another purchase through them. Each time I've ordered from them, I've received my goodies the next day! There are many cute designs - the fox bum caught my eye, but in the end I went with the Busy Bees.

I think those bees are so sweet!

I wanted to share this - it came with the nappy. A fun teabag to try, and a silly prayer. There was also a discount code and a hand written thank you. It's the little touches like this that make me go back to a shop. In case you can't read it, here's the writing a little closer...

Made me smile.
Anyway, back to the nappy...This is another birth to potty pocket nappy, very similar to the Little Lamb that we got from Essex County Council. It has 3 rows of poppers along the front to adjust the rise and rows of poppers instead of velcro to adjust the waist. It has enough poppers to overlap, so that waist can go really quite small. It comes with 1 microfibre insert, which is easy to insert and stays in really well as the hole is elasticated.

But a downside is that I found that as soon as the nappy was folded back in half after stuffing, the insert quite often got rucked up inside. In fact the first time I stuffed this I got really stroppy as I couldn't get that stupid insert to STAY FLAT! I've got the knack now - I sort of roll it around my thigh as I fold it back in half. We have it set on the smallest size, so I suspect that this isn't an issue on the larger sizes.

So. Fitting was a problem. I just couldn't get it to fit right. It's those pesky poppers again.

As you can see, I had two separate goes at getting these poppers to sit right. I tried the small and medium size setting, but both times had those flappy bits.

And this gaping kept happening too. One big squelcher and we'll be a mess.

Finally, no picture but there were some noticable elastic marks on Flower's legs after taking this nappy off her. Which is weird as I thought it was too loose!

I'm not sure I need an issues section on this post as we've mainly had issues. Unbelievably we haven't had any leaks, but I suspect that is luck rather than thanks to the containment ability of the nappy. I think Flower is simply not the right shape for this nappy. She's quite slim and long. It would probably work better for a chubbier bubba!

Overall
Pros:
Cute print!
Very quick drying. The main nappy is dry within half an hour of coming out of the wash. The microfibre insert can dry in one warm afternoon.

Cons:
I can't get the fit right and consequently feel that we are at risk of leaks
Not speedy to stuff (I've found that stuffing just before use is best as there's less time for the insert to get rucked up again before I put it on her)
I find poppers tricky
Marks left by elastic
Wouldn't risk using these at night.

Although I really like this print, I'm not certain we'll carry on using it. It's a fantastically cheap nappy, but I think you get what you pay for. If you're doing cloth nappies on a tight budget, these are a great option, but if you can afford a little more, I think it's worth it.

I'm glad I bought it though, as Fill Your Pants is a fab shop!
