What have we learned so far?

The aim of this blog was to help keep track of the different types of nappies and figure out what suits us and what doesn't. I've tried quite a few nappies now, so I thought it would be a good time to review our progress!

So we started with Bambino Mio, Mio Solos. We love these and continue to use them on a regular basis, particularly when out and about. At £16 each they are mid-expensive, but we bought ours half price at Aldi, so we have a respectable stash. I recently saw some prints that I don't have at Sainsburys full price and I find I don't love them quite enough to pay that on a normal day. Perhaps payday or christmas, ha!
Mio Solo - she's scrunching up so it looks really tight around her middle - it isn't too tight, I promise!

We've tried the Little Lamb pocket (free from the Council) and the Alva Baby. We decided that we didn't really get on with pockets or with popper fastenings. And I absolutely couldn't get a good fit with the Alva. So despite the excellent price, we don't use these anymore.

We've also tried the Totsbots star, which we found pretty good - along the same lines as the Mio Solo. I don't think I like it *quite* as much, simply because it doesn't feel quite as satisfying to stuff! The Mio stuffs perfectly, fits exactly and feels 'done', whereas I never seem to be able to get the star insert to lay just right. It works beautifully, but doesn't give me the same satisfaction when they're all neatly stuffed and stacked. Silly, I know.

At £18 each, the Star is also relatively expensive (although for quality it is worth it!), and being so new it's challenging to find them second hand. So at the moment, I only have 2. I use them when they're through the wash, but as they take so long to dry, they don't cycle through quickly.

We've also tried the Dasiybirds DBK, which I really like for value for money! A really functional nappy for a really friendly price. Doesn't beat the Mio for me, but I recommend it to anyone starting out on a budget.

And we've tried the Bambooty Easy Onesize. Another fab nappy, but the poppers are pretty much a no deal for us. Our wriggler just makes poppers too stressful. I'm assured that we'll feel differently about this in a year or so when Flower can undo velcro, but until then, I'm firmly in the hook and loop camp.

So at the moment, our most regularly used nappies are Mio Solos and Tickle Tots, which I'm having an absolute love affair with at the moment (I'll blog about them soon. I'm waiting to find a problem...). I would have more stars, but funds are limited.

The mission to learn more about cloth continues!
